Obasanjo Warns Against Muslim-Muslim, Christian-Christian Ticket

Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has warned against the  Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket as he described it as insensitive and dangerous with the current situation in Nigeria.

Obasanjo who said it will amount to very bad politics made this known on Sunday, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, Ogun Stat, according to Punch.
Obasanjo said: “It will be insensitive to the point of absurdity for any leader or any political party to be toying with Muslim- muslim or Christian-christian ticket at this juncture.
“Nigeria cannot at this stage raise the spectre and fear of Islamisation or Christianisation.

Federal Government to Ban commercial motorcycles (Okada rider) Nationwide

The use of motorcycles as commercial means of transport in Nigeria, popularly known as ‘Okada’ or ‘Achaba’ may soon be banned throughout the country.

The proposal for the ban was made by the National Council on Transport after its annual conference in Enugu State and endorsed by the Minister of Transport, Sen. Idris Umar.

A statement from the Federal Ministry of Transport on Saturday evening stated that the ban of commercial motorcycle was one of the measures proposed towards adequate provision of safety and secure transportation in Nigeria.

It said the recommendation was contained in a statement of the week long meeting which had in attendance all the state commissioners of transport, permanent secretaries, directors and officials in the federal and state ministries of transport across the country.

Ibadan Mother Claims Her Baby Born With Qur’an In His Hand

An Islamic preacher in Ibadan, Oyo State, Dr Dawood Amoo, has described the birth of a baby boy holding a pocket-size Qur’an in his hand.

Amoo told journalists that the boy was unique, because mini Qur’an contained all the 114 chapters in the holy book.
The baby’s mother went to deliver him at a church because she feared of hospital bills.
The woman who took the boy saw the ‘strange’ object and threw it away as something devilish, but soon the baby became restless and continued to clutch and empty fist.
The child’s parents who were not practicing any religion before, now say they will revert to Islam as this was a sign directly from Allah.
The baby, who was named Ismael, attracted huge crowd when the news filtered around town that he was born with a holy book.

The armed robbers who shot and killed the Deputy Editor of Saturday Newswatch newspapers, Toyin Obadina (pictured left0 on February 3rd along the Itoikin Old Ijebu-Ode road, have been arrested by men of the Lagos state police command, eight months after they carried out the dastard act.
