5 Things You Didn’t Know About The New Olori Of Ife, Wuraola Ogunwusi

Nigeria has been agog with news of the Ooni of Ife’s marriage to Wuraola Zaynab Otiti Obanor.

The wedding which took place a week ago has been the latest talk in town. The Ooni, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, paid a bride price of N25 for his Benin native queen in absentia, making her the second Olori.

Olori is a Yoruba word for Princess Consort. Ayaba is the Yoruba word for Queen Consort. Although, Olori (also spelled “Oloori”) is more commonly used.

A lot is known about the Ooni’s first wife, Olori Adebukola Ogunwusi.

But the second Olori, Wuraola Ogunwusi is a total mystery. Here are the things we know about Wuraola Ogunwusi so far:
1. Her Edo name is Itohan.

2. She’s an architect.

3. She lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
4. Wuraola is descended from the Oluyare Compound in Remo quarters of Ile-Ife.
5. She shares the name “Wuraola” with the Ooni’s late mother, Princess Margaret Wuraola Ogunwusi.
